What’s New at the 60th Annual Meeting?
Each year, AABB enhances the Annual Meeting experience for attendees by improving existing programs and providing new offerings. This year’s event includes the following innovations.
AABB‘s Zen Den
At the Zen Den, sponsored by Immucor, Inc., attendees may relax, rejuvenate and recharge by enjoying a quick massage, sipping a cup of tea or burying their feet in the sand of the Zen garden. Located in Hall B, the Zen Den will be open Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, and on Tuesday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
NBF Hall of Fame
The National Blood Foundation is honoring past NBF grant recipients by showcasing how they leveraged their grants into successful careers in transfusion medicine and leadership positions in the field. Be sure to visit the NBF Hall of Fame sponsored by Gambro BCT, located in the AABB Action Center, and make a donation to support future grants.
Outstanding Posters
AABB is showcasing scientific and administrative abstracts rated the highest in their category as “Outstanding Posters.” Abstracts were selected based on their contribution to fields of concentration and overall quality considerations. They are on display in Hall B and are also available for viewing online at the virtual poster-on-demand kiosks located near the poster boards. After reviewing them, attendees will have the opportunity to submit feedback.
Mentor Match-up Program
This year, AABB taps the talent of longtime industry leaders to assist those just entering the field or attending their first Annual Meeting. Mentors and new attendees meet Friday evening for the first time at the Annual Meeting Orientation.
Elizabeth Edwards Presentation and Book Signing
Saturday morning in Ballroom A–E, special guest Elizabeth Edwards will be the featured speaker for AABB’s 2007 opening session. She will then be available to sign her book, Saving Graces: Finding Solace and Strength from Friends and Strangers. Copies may be purchased from the AABB bookstore.
Welcome Breakfast/International Lounge for International Participants
Attendees from outside the U.S. are invited to attend a networking breakfast on Sunday morning (7:00 am to 8:15 am) in Room 303A/B. International attendees are also encouraged to stop by the International Lounge for beverages, light snacks, access to computers and networking opportunities. The International Lounge, located in Room 211A, is open during registration hours from Saturday through Tuesday.
