Are You Ready for More?

Yes, there is more after Anaheim! Two more opportunities for cutting-edge presentations on hot topics and valuable networking are in store in March 2008. Mark your calendars and we’ll see you again on the East Coast soon.

International Conference on Emerging Infectious Diseases (ICEID) 2008

AABB has accepted an invitation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to co-sponsor ICEID 2008 in Atlanta, Ga., March 16–19. The CDC believes that effective public health policy is developed by coordination among various public and private organizations as well as individuals. The conference, in its sixth iteration, is an effort to bring together such players, including the World Health Organization, to create optimal information exchange and strategic planning.

The program will include plenary and panel sessions with invited speakers as well as oral and poster presentations on emerging infections. Major topics to be included are current work on surveillance, epidemiology, research, communication and training, bioterrorism, and prevention and control of emerging infectious diseases, both in the United States and abroad.

For information about the call for abstracts, visit www.iceid.org/abstracts-cfa.asp. (Abstracts must be submitted by Nov. 19.)

AABB Spring Conference 2008

Join us March 28-29 in Orlando, Fla., for more great educational sessions — and more sunshine. New this year, AABB offers four specialized tracks to keep you on course and take you further in your area of expertise:

The Cellular Therapy Track takes a comprehensive look at quality systems relative to cellular therapy product services.

The Inventory Management Track covers topics ranging from emerging issues affecting the blood supply to the latest techniques in management and communication.

The Perioperative Blood Management Track includes discussion on blood recovery during surgery, non-red-cell perioperative products, pharmaceutical interventions, and AABB accreditation as well as case studies.

The Tissue Management Track (new) addresses federal regulations for tissue, requirements arising from increased scrutiny of tissue facilities by The Joint Commission, as well as standards of AABB and other accrediting organizations. In addition to discussing the usefulness of centralized operations, speakers will address essentials for operating tissue services, centralized or not, and provide practical examples.

Twenty minutes from Orlando, the Buena Vista Palace Hotel and Spa provides prestigious accommodations on 27 beautiful acres in the Walt Disney World Resort, across the street from Downtown Disney.

Plan now to join us! Online, fax and mail registration opens January 2008. For additional information, please contact meeting@aabb.org.
