AABB and Fenwal Inc. have announced winners of awards to promote interest in research, development and continuing education in the field of transfusion medicine.

 

The recipient of the SBB Scholarship Award is

·          Cecilia Tuenyee Wong, MT(ASCP), CLA(NCA), “The Effectiveness of a Repeat Manual Screening Test in Addition to Solid Phase Antibody Identification.”

 

Recipients of the Transfusion Medicine Fellowship Award are

·          Emmanuel Fadeyi, MD, “A Preliminary Comparison of the Incidence of Transfusion Reactions in Recipients of Platelets from Donors with and without HLA Antibodies.”

·          Barbara J. Bryant, MD, “Role of Iron Replacement Therapy in the Routine Management of Blood Donors.”

 

Individuals accepted for enrollment in, currently attending or recently graduated from an accredited SBB program or Transfusion Medicine Fellowship are eligible for the awards. SBB scholarships have been offered since 1968, and Transfusion Medicine Fellowship Awards were initiated in 1992.
