AABB Launches Facebook Fan Page
Kickoff Coincides with June 14 Celebration Marking the Birthday of Karl Landsteiner,
the Nobel Prize Winner Who Discovered the ABO Blood Group System

Bethesda, Md. – AABB (formerly known as the American Association of Blood Banks) is excited to announce the creation of its AABB Facebook fan page, which is being launched in honor of World Blood Donor Day (WBDD). AABB’s new fan page provides an additional avenue to engage and connect individuals interested in or already involved with transfusion medicine and cellular therapies.

“WBDD brings attention to the need for safe blood around the world and this celebration provides the ideal opportunity to launch the AABB Facebook fan page,” said Karen Shoos Lipton, JD, AABB’s CEO. “Attracting individuals to this popular social media site will help increase awareness about AABB and its mission of optimizing patient and donor care and safety."

Facebook users can become a fan of the AABB page by logging into their respective accounts and searching for AABB, or by visiting www.facebook.com/home.php?#/pages/AABB/57750581473. Once Facebook users become fans of AABB, they will be able to view photo albums and video, post comments on the wall and learn more about the association, including membership activities.
