Suzanne Ledin Travel Award

In 2006, the AABB Scientific Section Coordinating Committee and the Suzanne Ledin Memorial Foundation launched a new travel award for SBB students and recent graduates. Two Suzanne Ledin Travel Awards will be offered annually to promote opportunities for continuing education and scientific interaction for SBB students.  Any individual enrolled, accepted for enrollment in, or having completed within the past 12 months a program leading to a Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) certification in an AABB-accredited institution is eligible.

In order to be selected for this award, the applicant must complete an essay focusing on your vision of being an SBB certified professional, incorporating how you became interested in studying to be an SBB, your thoughts on how to increase awareness of the profession, your ideas regarding recruitment of future SBBs and where you would like to see the profession in the next 10 years.

Scholarship recipients will receive:

  • Complimentary registration for the AABB Annual Meeting
  • One ticket to attend the AABB Gala held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting
  • $1,500 travel grant to be used for travel, lodging and dining expenses associated with attending the AABB Annual Meeting
