AABB Opens Search for Next CEO

AABB is the authoritative leader in the transfusion medicine and cellular therapy communities with a commitment to the highest standards of care for patients and donors. AABB’s Board of Directors is searching for its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead this well-established organization in Bethesda, MD. AABB is a complex, global organization and the new CEO will be a high-energy, forward-thinking executive to partner with the Board of Directors in setting the strategic direction for the future.

Founded in 1947, AABB has a rich history in the field of blood safety, patient blood management, and transfusion medicine. As the cellular therapies field grows, so does AABB’s commitment and support. To support its work, the AABB has six divisions with numerous volunteer committees. The CEO will need to preserve what is best about the association, but also implement well-executed, sustainable change in building a culture of partnership and accountability.

AABB seeks a new CEO to engage with the membership primarily based in North America, but keep a strategic view on the organization’s global influence and expansion. The CEO will need to champion members in ways that clearly advance their professional status and ensure that the association’s program delivery and solutions are relevant, high quality and member centered. Serving as a key internal and external spokesperson for AABB, in conjunction with the Board President, the CEO will need to demonstrate comfort and experience in this role.

Within the AABB staff culture, the CEO will champion organization values and build good working relationships with all employees; thereby, creating a positive work environment. The CEO in conjunction with staff will ensure the achievement of the annual operational and financial plan.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Master’s prepared seasoned executive or senior leader with at least five years of experience in a health-related leadership role. The successful candidate will have experience in nonprofit institutions or associations and a proven track record of strategic leadership.
