Dear Dr. LeMaistre:

I am writing to propose an opportunity for FACT and AABB to work together to optimize patient and donor care and safety.  AABB’s accreditation department works closely with The Joint Commission (TJC), the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to investigate complaints and to evaluate discrepancies in assessment findings. This opportunity has also been extended to the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP). These partnerships involve the sharing of information regarding a complaint or assessment finding that may potentially result in harm to a patient or donor.  AABB believes that this type of partnership with other organizations improves the quality of the assessment and accreditation and ultimately leads to better patient care.

AABB would appreciate the opportunity to develop this same type of relationship with FACT.  If you agree that this would be a beneficial addition, please contact me at 301-215-6501 or and I will set up a meeting or conference call to further discuss this opportunity. Thank you for considering this request.
