- Identify different educational media for teaching healthcare providers about PBM.
- Describe the Mayo Experience for an institution-wide PBM education for physicians.
Education is integral to any PBM program. However, PBM is multidisciplinary and so a diverse range of educational media may need to be used. In addition, healthcare providers are overloaded with information from a wide range of sources. Tactics for educating physicians in PBM must be engaging and meaningful. In this program, the challenges and some successful strategies for educating clinicians on blood utilization and patient blood management will be discussed. The Mayo Clinic experience for an institution-wide PBM education requirement for their medical staff will also be described.
