Learning Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, participants should be able to:

  • Identify points to consider in determining appropriate customers for sale of cord blood products.
  • Discuss criteria to ensure appropriate handling of cord blood products.
  • Describe SOPs designed to determine if cord and CT products will be used for legitimate purposes.

Program Description

Questions arise as to the safety and traceability of cord blood products sold to third parties. This program will address how to qualify or approve research grade cord blood products for sale to companies. In addition, legal and regulatory questions arise in Private Banking when there are requests to release CT products for unproven clinical Autologous/Family Directed uses. This eCast will include discussion of SOPs designed to determine if cord and CT products will be used for legitimate purposes -- not for ‘unproven clinical work.’
