Appointed Director

Laurie Delia VanThof, MT(ASCP)SBB, is the vice president of reference laboratories and transfusion services at Vitalant. VanThof joined Vitalant in February 2020 and is responsible for the leadership, management and direction of the organization’s immunohematology reference laboratories (IRLs) and transfusion services nationwide. Prior to joining Vitalant, VanThof was a senior director with the American Red Cross, overseeing operations at multiple IRLs.

VanThof is a graduate of Marist College, Poughkeepsie, NY, where she received her Bachelor of Science in medical laboratory science. She also holds a Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) certification.

VanThof is the chair of the AABB Immunohematology Reference Laboratories Standards Committee, where she also serves as a liaison to other committees. She served as president of Blood Banks Association of New York State from 2013 to 2015 and was a member of their Board of Directors from 2009 to 2017. She is a current member of AABB and ASCP and previously served as an AABB assessor for 17 years.
