AABB Blood Banking & Transfusion Medicine 101: eCast Series

AABB has developed a new education series focusing on the fundamentals of blood banking and transfusion medicine. Designed for early-career professionals or those looking to refresh their knowledge, AABB’s Blood Banking & Transfusion Medicine 101 eCast Series provides a thorough overview about blood banking and transfusion medicine from top experts in the field.

Curriculum/Content

This eCast series will be broken into 4 main topics with 24 subtopics:

  • Topic 1: Industry Review/Overview
  • Topic 2: Blood Banking Fundamentals
  • Topic 3: Transfusion Medicine Fundamentals
  • Topic 4: Regulatory/Compliance Deep Dive

In this series, you receive access to 24 on-demand eCasts in varying lengths covering 24 subtopics. Jump down below to “Content Overview” for a listing of all subtopics. There will also be an opportunity to participate on a web call to address content-related questions.

Program Format

The program will consist of 24 on-demand recorded eCasts in varying lengths covering 24 subtopics within the 4 main topics as outlined above. This program is housed in the AABB Education Platform. Learners will have unlimited access to the content for up to 2 years.

AABB will also provide an opportunity for learners to submit content questions and will host a live web call to address those questions. Additional Q&A calls may be scheduled based on learner feedback.

Assessments

There are no assessments provided with this program. This is an educational eCast series broken into 4 main topic areas where students can review the content as many times as they want during their access period.

Intended Audience

This program will be basic in nature and is designed for professionals who want to learn the fundamentals of blood, blood banking and transfusion medicine.

 Registration Fee & Process

After registering for the program, each learner will receive access to all recorded eCasts in this series as noted in the syllabus. This program is for individuals and discounts for multiple registrations are available (group viewing is not available).

Individual Registration Pricing:

  • AABB Individual Member: $349
    Individual Nonmember: $399
    Special COVID-19 Price: the introductory $50 discount has been extended and is available to all students who register prior to June 30, 2020.

Discount for Multiple Registrations:

  • Institutions will receive 15% off the list price when purchasing 4 or more registrations. The list price for each student will be determined by the institution’s AABB membership status.

How To Register

Individuals can register online via the AABB Marketplace. If you do not have an account, you will be prompted to create one. Payment confirmation will be provided immediately after registering.

Institutions that want to purchase registrations for students must complete and return the registration form. Payment confirmation will be provided within 2-5 business days.

 What to Expect

After registering for the program, you will receive a receipt for your purchase. You will be able to access the program via the AABB Education Platform immediately upon purchase. You will be able to watch the videos as many times as you like within the access period. Access is granted for up to 2 years.

To assist with your understanding of the content, you will be contacted to submit questions you may have based on the content you have reviewed. A web call with some of our program industry experts will be scheduled in late August/early September to address content-related questions.

 CE Credits

This program is eligible for 16 continuing education credits/contact hours for General Participation, California Nurse, California Lab Personnel or Florida Lab Personnel. The number and type of credits awarded for this program was determined by the program duration. This program is not eligible for continuing medical education for physicians.
