AABB members receive complimentary registration to a new eCast series on establishing a patient blood management (PBM) program, thanks to the generous support of Haemonetics Corporation. This series, “Basics in Patient Blood Management,” convenes PBM pioneers and experts to explain the value of a PBM program and explore elements, strategies and tactics necessary to build a successful program. The series consists of four short segments designed to help hospitals start a PBM program and operationalize elements that are already in place. The series addresses basics and principles to guide implementing and managing a PBM program, transfusion triggers and blood recovery techniques.
AABB thanks Haemonetics for making this eLearning opportunity available to its membership. AABB members may register in the AABB Marketplace. Non-members may purchase access in the Marketplace, as well.
A separate stand-alone eCast focusing on PBM for ordering clinicians is also available. This 40-minute program examines transfusion indications, informed consent and recognition and reporting of transfusion reactions. The program meets educational requirements for ordering physicians for AABB’s and The Joint Commission’s PBM hospital certification, as well. The video is available on YouTube.
