The Biomedical Excellence for Safer Transfusion (BEST) Collaborative announced Krystalyn E. Hudson, PhD, assistant professor in the Department of Pathology and Cell Biology at Columbia University in New York, as the 25th recipient of the Scott Murphy Memorial Award Lectureship. Hudson will deliver her lecture, "Tolerance and Autoimmunity to Red Blood Cells," during the 60th Meeting of BEST, to be held virtually on Nov. 6. Hudson is a 2014 recipient of a National Blood Foundation (NBF) early-career Scientific Research Grant, an NBF Scholar and the 2019 recipient of the NBF Award for Innovative Research.

The BEST Collaborative established the lecture in 2007 to recognize the contributions of the late Scott Murphy, MD, a past chair of the organization, to the field of transfusion medicine and to the science of platelet storage. A list of prior award recipients and their presentation titles are available online.
