AABB Virtual Journal Club Assesses Use of Multimedia Resources for Donor Recruitment

January 13, 2021

Recruiting committed hematopoietic stem cell donors remains a challenge for organizations worldwide. The upcoming AABB Virtual Journal Club will examine results of a recent study published in Transfusion addressing the utilization of multimedia resources to recruit hematopoietic stem cell donors. In this qualitative study, researchers used an educational whiteboard video about stem cell donation to generate clues on how to effectively employ multimedia resources to optimize donor recruitment.

Moderators Warren Fingrut, MD, hematology specialist at the University of British Columbia, Stem Cell Club director and lead author of the paper; and Marion Brunck, PhD, research professor at Tecnológico de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico, will lead the discussion. The conversation will occur over the course of 24 hours on Twitter. The first live chat is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan. 26 at 8 p.m. ET, and the second live discussion will take place at 12 p.m. ET the following day.
