AABB Encourages Members to Support Early-Career Investigators Through NBF Run for Research

October 11, 2021

AABB encourages members of the blood and biotherapies community to support promising early-career investigators by participating in the National Blood Foundation's virtual Run for Research, taking place during the 2021 Virtual Annual Meeting. The Virtual Run for Research is a 5K run or 1-mile walk; registration fees support innovative research and the careers of future leaders in transfusion medicine and biotherapies. Participants can complete their run or walk on any day of the AABB Annual Meeting, to be held Oct. 17-19.

Registration for the Virtual Run for Research costs $55 dollars and includes an event t-shirt. Participants can register for the event as an individual or as part of a 5- or 10-member team. Teams will receive discounted registration. Participants are encouraged to download the RaceJoy app for free live tracking and progress alerts on race day.

As the race is virtual, AABB and the NBF encourage participants to document their run by sharing photos and videos using the #AABB21 hashtag on Twitter and Instagram. The NBF will recognize individuals with the best run companion and most fun running outfit, in addition to the fastest individuals, fastest 5- and 10-member teams, and the team that raises the most money to support the NBF. Visit the event web page for additional information.

AABB asks those who are unable to participate in this year’s race to consider donating to the NBF. To make a tax-deductible contribution, please visit the NBF website or contact nbf@aabb.org.
