September 01, 2021

Colorado’s Department of Public Health and Environment recently adopted regulations that recognize the AABB Standards for Blood Banks/Transfusion Services. The regulations govern hospitals and specify that with respect to blood banking, “Standards of the American Association of Blood Banks shall be used; or the hospital shall substitute alternate standards, which are safe and adequate for the collection and administration of blood and blood products, and are based on nationally-recognized guidelines and standards of practice.” Additional information about AABB Standards is available online
