Biotherapies Are Focus of October Issue of AABB News

October 11, 2021

The purpose of cell therapies is to treat patients using cells from the patient or a donor that have been manipulated in the lab to treat the patient’s illness or injury. The October issue of AABB News explores these biotherapies. One feature article discusses the massive efforts being undertaken to bring regenerative medicines, including cell therapy, from the lab to the clinic.

Another feature looks into how cellular therapies — which include treatments based on mesenchymal stem cells and natural killer cells — are being studied as potential treatments for COVID-19. Other articles in the issue introduce the National Blood Foundation’s 2021 early-career Scientific Research Grant recipients, announce the 2021 AABB Memorial Award winners, highlight how those who attend the 2021 AABB Virtual Annual Meeting can connect at and beyond the meeting, and profile Larry Luchsinger, PhD.
