In a time of persistent challenges to the blood supply , adopting or enhancing a patient blood management (PBM) program can help hospitals and their blood suppliers to extend the blood supply while improving patient outcomes. AABB’s next Twitter chat will explore the adoption of PBM strategies in the hospital emergency department (ED).
Join Richard R. Gammon, MD, (@RichardGammonMD), medical director at OneBlood, and Chris Bocquet (@ChrisBocPro), senior director, Standards Development and Quality Initiatives at AABB, to discuss potential strategies that hospitals can employ to support PBM efforts in the ED, including the adoption of a restrictive blood transfusion strategy and intravenous iron therapy. The chat will also focus on how to engage ED physicians in these efforts.
The Twitter chat will take place at 3:30 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Nov. 23. AABB encourages members to follow @AABB and use the hashtag #AABBPEPTalk to join the conversation.
