Legislation proposed in California would establish a new tax credit for regular blood donors. Assembly member Freddie Rodriguez introduced a bill (AB 1709) on Jan. 26 that would establish a $500 net tax credit for individuals who donate blood four or more times in a calendar year. The bill would also encourage the California Office of Emergency Services to seek partnerships with the private sector to provide additional incentives to help alleviate blood supply pressures.
