The Biomedical Excellence for Safer Transfusion (BEST) Collaborative recently announced Jamie Nash, a final-year PhD candidate at Cardiff Metropolitan University School of Sport and Health Science in Cardiff, Wales, as the 28th recipient of the Scott Murphy Memorial Award Lectureship. Nash delivered his lecture, “The understated importance of extracellular vesicles in cold-stored platelet concentrates,” during the 63rd Meeting of BEST, which took place last month in Oxford, England.

The BEST Collaborative established the lecture in 2007 to recognize the contributions of the late Scott Murphy, MD, a past chair of the organization, to the field of transfusion medicine and to the science of platelet storage. A list of prior award recipients and their presentation titles are available online.
