Members of the blood and biotherapies community can support early-career investigators by participating in the National Blood Foundation's Run for Research, taking place as both a virtual and in-person event during the 2022 Annual Meeting.
The NBF Run for Research is a 5K run or 1-mile walk whose registration fees support innovative research and the careers of future leaders in transfusion medicine and biotherapies. Participants in either event can register as an individual or as part of a 5- or 10-member team. Teams receive discounted registration. Registration for both events is available through Annual Meeting registration or via RunSignUp.
For those in attendance in Orlando, the race will take place at 7 a.m. ET on Sunday, Oct. 2. Registration costs $55 and includes a complimentary breakfast after the event. A souvenir race t-shirt is available upon registration for an additional $10.
Those participating in the virtual event, either in attendance at the meeting or not, can complete their run or walk on any day of the Annual Meeting, taking place Oct. 1-4. Registration for the virtual run is $50, and a souvenir race t-shirt is available for an additional $10. Virtual participants may download the RaceJoy app for free live tracking.
AABB and the NBF encourage participants – both in-person and virtual – to document their run by sharing photos and videos using the #AABB22 hashtag on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Visit the event web page for additional information.
Those interested in supporting the NBF without leaving the comfort of their beds can register for the NBF Sleep In for Research. Registration costs $25 and includes a Sleep In for Research t-shirt.
AABB asks those who are unable to participate in this year’s race to consider donating to the NBF. To make a tax-deductible contribution, please visit the NBF website or contact nbf@aabb.org.
