Foundational Training for EMS Leaders Building Prehospital Blood Programs
As the use of blood products in prehospital care continues to expand to address preventable deaths from hemorrhage, Emergency Medical Service (EMS) agencies are increasingly seeking guidance on how to safely establish and manage transfusion programs.
The AABB Prehospital Transfusion Certificate Program is designed to equip EMS leaders with the clinical, regulatory, operational, and quality management knowledge needed to plan, implement and oversee prehospital blood transfusion programs.
Through a series of seven self-paced modules, participants will explore the scientific and clinical evidence supporting early transfusion, the roles and responsibilities of EMS agencies and blood providers, regulatory and accreditation considerations, blood product selection and handling, operational workflows and the quality and safety systems essential to successful program implementation.
Developed by multidisciplinary experts from EMS, blood centers and hospitals, the program emphasizes collaboration and shared accountability across the continuum of care.
Who Should Participate
This program is intended for EMS program managers, field practitioners, medical directors, and other leaders involved in the planning and implementation of prehospital transfusion programs.
