  • Program Description

    The purpose of this program is to discuss opportunities for students with a BS degree to branch into the field of medical laboratory science through clinical training and gain competency to work as a medical laboratory scientist in a professional setting.

    Learning Objectives

    After participating in this educational activity, participants should be able to:

    • Discuss Medical Laboratory Scientist education requirements.
    • Discuss Medical Laboratory Scientist ASCP certification route of eligibility.
    • Identify students that would benefit from a post Baccalaureate Certificate Program.
    • Propose recruitment strategies.

    Continuing Education Credit

    Faculty Biographies

    Hind KurbajHind Kurbaj received her master’s in Immunohematology and Biotechnology from George Washington University. She currently works as a clinical coordinator responsible for the training and competency program at MD Anderson Cancer Center Transfusion Services in Houston, Texas.



    Jeanette Norris is the Program Director and Clinical Coordinator at Thomas University in Thomasville, GA. She entered education as an instructor, student laboratory coordinator, and Clinical Coordinator in Boston, MA. Prior to academia, she worked as a Medical Laboratory Scientist at hospitals ranging in size from standalone Emergency Rooms to 900+ bed trauma hospitals. She received her Master’s in Medical Laboratory Science from the University of Southern Mississippi.
