Graduate credits (6) from the SBB program may be applied to the Transfusion Medicine Masters (TRM-MS) degree program at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas.

The aim of our Specialist in Blood Bank Technology (SBB) program is to prepare individuals to become a transfusion medicine specialist and attain ASCP certification as an SBB. This SBB program is a hybrid model consisting of online/on-demand didactic, professional development tasks, and learning coupled with a combination of in-person and virtual clinical/administration/technical practicum requirements. These practicums are facilitated by the Red Cross SBB Program staff in collaboration with Red Cross sites and our partner institutions. Students are accepted from various Red Cross and partner locations across the United States and Puerto Rico in conjunction with our affiliated institutions. Students must have an approved mentor to apply. Orientation is virtual.
