FAQs

Is there a limit on the number of submissions?

No, you can submit as many ideas or proposals as you would like.

Can I add more than two speakers? How long is each session?

  • Three positions may be submitted for each 60-minute session (one program chair and two speakers). The submission form provides an option for submitters to request a 75-minute session, which will allow for an additional position (one program chair and three speakers).
  • Sessions will generally follow a 60- or 75-minute format with a moderator and two or three speakers, as indicated above. If you would like the committee to consider your session for a format that would necessitate additional speakers, please outline your intended format in the description with suggested additional speakers. Examples might include a panel discussion with multiple brief presentations followed by a panel discussion or a roundtable session with multiple table moderators. Such requests are not guaranteed if the session proposal is accepted.

What kind of sessions should I submit?

The categories and keywords can be found in the Educational Session Proposal Guide.

How do I request travel assistance?

  • AABB has a limited, discretionary budget to provide speaker travel support, which is reserved for faculty who meet all of the following criteria:
    • Work outside of the field of blood and biotherapies
    • Are deemed essential to meet the session's learning objectives
    • Would not otherwise have a reason to attend an AABB Annual Meeting.
  • The Faculty section of the submission site will ask you to enter the program chair and speakers. After you enter the names and emails, you will need to click "edit faculty's Profile." When you scroll down the page, you will see the following questions:
    • Is this speaker requesting travel assistance?
    • Why is the person essential to the program to meet the objectives?
  • Requests will be reviewed during the selection process and notifications sent in May.

Who should I contact if I have questions about the submission process or timeline?

Please email professionaldevelopment@aabb.org if you have questions about the submission process or timeline.

Do I need to be in person to present at the 2026 Annual Meeting?

Yes. If your session is accepted, all the individuals involved need to present in person at the Annual Meeting.

Is there a registration discount code for moderators and speakers if my session is accepted?

Yes. Speakers and Program Chairs at the AABB Annual Meeting education sessions will receive complimentary meeting registration for the day of the session in which they participate. Complimentary registration is limited to one day per presenter regardless of roles or number of sessions presented. Poster abstract presenters, session table monitors, assessors, and grant recipients do not receive complimentary registration under this policy.

Do you have a visa invitation letter that I can use to apply for a visa?

If you need a visa invitation letter, please email professionaldevelopment@aabb.org. Please apply as soon as possible so you can ensure a visa in order to attend the AABB Annual Meeting.
