Since 1957, AABB has been developing standards for blood banks and transfusion services. From the 1980s to the present standards for Cellular Therapies, Perioperative Services, Relationship Testing, Immunohematology Reference Laboratories, Molecular Testing and Patient Blood Management have been added to the standards library. The corresponding accreditation programs strive to improve the quality and safety of the activities covered by the standards.
In this section, you will find general information on each set of AABB standards as well as resources to assist in the implementation of those standards and in the successful management of the accreditation process. Also included within this section are lists of AABB-accredited facilities by activity as well as information about accreditation and certification programs through affiliated accrediting organizations.
