  Dr. Mark Zakowski worked in New York City at NYU/Bellevue and in Los Angeles at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center as an obstetric anesthesiologist, in both academic and private practice. He has published many articles, chapters and lectured nationally and internationally on obstetric anesthesia. Dr. Zakowski has volunteered over 15,000 hours in professional societies, serving in numerous committees and leadership positions, always a fierce patient advocate at the hospital, state and federal levels. Dr. Zakowski is Past Chair of the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) Committee on Obstetric Anesthesia, Chair of the ASA Educational Track Subcommittee on Obstetric Anesthesia, and Vice-Chair of the ASA Committee on Quality Management and Departmental Administration. He has served in many roles in various committees, is a past-president for both CSA and SOAP currently serves on the ASA Board of Directors. He helped produced several key ASA statements helping members including addressing pain during cesarean delivery, reducing maternal morbidity and mortality among others.
