    Continuing Education Credit

    Claiming Credit
    Live Activity - Upon completion of the live activity, you will receive instructions to complete your evaluation, which is necessary to claim credit and receive your certificate of attendance/completion (credit must be claimed by the date provided in the instructions).     Enduring Activity - Once the enduring (on-demand) program is available, you will receive instructions to access the AABB Education Platform.     Faculty Biographies

    Dr. Meghan DelaneyMeghan Delaney, DO, MPH is the chief of the division of pathology and lab medicine and director of transfusion medicine at Children’s National Hospital. She is also a professor of pathology and pediatrics at The George Washington University in Washington, DC. Dr. Delaney previously worked at Bloodworks NW, where she led the apheresis program and the immunohematology and red cell genomics laboratory, and served as an attending physician in the centralized transfusion service and donor center. Dr. Delaney received a bachelor's degree in biology from University of Vermont, a master of public health degree from University of Washington, and an osteopathic medical doctor degree from the University of New England. She completed her clinical pathology residency at Beth Israel Deaconess/Harvard Medical School and transfusion medicine fellowship at Bloodworks NW (formerly Puget Sound Blood Center) in Seattle. Dr. Delaney's scholarly focus is in transfusion medicine, pediatric transfusion medicine, immunohematology and molecular diagnostics. She has authored or coauthored more than 100 scientific publications, more than 20 book chapters, numerous review articles, and invited lectures nationally and internationally. She is committed to international service and collaboration. Dr. Delaney focuses on sustainable blood transfusion systems development and in low- and middle-income nations. She serves as chair of AABB's Global Transfusion Forum Policy and Practices Subcommittee, and as the co-chair of AABB's Global Standards Committee. She is the chairperson for the NIH-funded Bloodsafe program that aims to improve access to safe blood transfusion in Sub-Saharan Africa. Dr. Delaney has been a member of AABB for many years and currently serves as AABB's Past President. Previously, Delaney was the chair of the AABB Molecular Testing Accreditation Program Unit and the AABB's Transfusion Medicine Subsection Pediatric Subcommittee. She is a Scientific Member of the BEST Collaborative. She promotes education and scholarship in our field as a member of the American Board of Pathology (ABP) Transfusion Medicine Test Development and Advisory Committee, associate editor for the journal Transfusion Medicine, and as a member of the editorial board of Transfusion, Transfusion Medicine Reviews and Immunohematology.


    Janis R. Hamilton, MS, MLS(ASCP)SBB is the manager of the immunohematology reference laboratories (IRL) at the American Red Cross in Detroit and Lansing, Michigan. She is the associate editor of Immunhematology, the Journal of Blood Group Serology and Molecular Genetics, a member of the ISBT and its Immunohaematology Working Party, and the AABB Selection of Abstracts Committee. She has worked at the American Red Cross -Detroit IRL for 40 years. Previously, Hamilton was chair of the AABB IRL Accreditation Program Unit and the ACSP Board of Registry Blood Bank Examination Committee. She co-authored the chapter "Identification of Antibodies to Red Cell Antigens" in the 18th and 19th editions of the AABB Technical Manual and "The Positive Direct Antiglobulin Test and Immune-Mediated Hemolysis" in the upcoming 22nd edition. She also is co-author of Antibody Identification: Art or Science? A Case Study Approach and Investigating Positive DAT Results: A Case Study Approach. Jan's special interest is performing, and teaching about, blood group serology and red cell antibody identification. She has enjoyed involvement in immunohematology education regionally, nationally and internationally, with special emphasis on India and south Asia regions. She has been recognized with the AABB Sally Frank Award and the American Society for Clinical Pathology Excellence in Education Award.


    Susan T. Johnson, MSTM, MT(ASCP)SBBCMSue Johnson, MSTM, MLS(ASCP)SBBCM is director of clinical education and the SBB program at Versiti and director of the transfusion medicine program at Marquette University and a clinical associate professor at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, College of Health Science. Prior to this, she worked in the Immunohematology Reference Laboratory for more than 25 years developing a special interest in drug-induced immune hemolytic anemia. Johnson has been actively involved in AABB, serving on many committees. She has authored numerous publications in the field of transfusion medicine and immunohematology including Judd's Methods in Immunohematology and Blood Banker Favorites: A Collection of Best Recipes for Blood Sample Preparation. She has also had the honor of being an associate editor of the 20th and 21st edition of the AABB Technical Manual.


    Lynsi RahorstAfter working for several years in the immunohematology reference laboratory at Community Blood Center in Kansas City, Lynsi Rahorst is now manager of education and training for IRL/genomics for New York Blood Center Enterprises (NYBCe). In this role, she supports training of laboratory staff and coordinates educational programs and content offered by NYBCe for the greater transfusion medicine community. She has served on multiple AABB committees, is an AABB IRL assessor, and participates in Spanish language initiatives in transfusion medicine education. Rahorst is passionate about educating and training the next generation of leaders in immunohematology and genomics.
