Delta Development TeamThis program introduces BloodCOMM®, a digital infrastructure platform designed to provide visibility, automation, and accountability across prehospital blood management. The presentation will examine how digital tools can support the complete cold chain of custody for individual blood units—from registration and barcode or AI-assisted scanning through storage, inspection, transfer, and final disposition. Attendees will learn how BloodCOMM® captures temperature, location, chain-of-custody events, excursions, and other unit-level information to create a continuous digital record, while providing organizations and blood banks with greater visibility into blood inventory, device status, and entire program activity.

The program will combine didactic instruction with live platform demonstrations and practical workflow examples. Demonstrations will illustrate blood-unit registration and scanning, cold-chain event tracking, per-unit reporting, automated excursion alerts, report generation and sharing, blood and device metrics, GPS-enabled device visibility, and remote blood-bank access. The presentation will also discuss how automated reporting and scheduled metrics can support operational oversight, compliance, and continuous program management. A question-and-answer session will conclude the program, providing an opportunity for attendees to discuss BloodCOMM® functionality and its application within their own prehospital blood programs.

After attending this program, participants should be able to:

  • Explain how per-unit temperature monitoring, cold-chain events, and chain-of-custody data can be captured to create a continuous record for each blood unit.

As prehospital transfusion continues to emerge as a critical field, Emily's work extends beyond modernizing legacy tools—she is building standardized, universal systems from the ground up to enable complete accountability and traceability across the blood supply chain. With a background in mechanical engineering and defense technology, Emily specializes in designing robust, mission-critical systems built to perform in complex, high-stakes environments. Working closely with blood bankers, medical directors, fire chiefs, and EMS personnel, she translates real-world operational challenges into resilient software solutions that help protect the integrity of the blood supply from distribution through the point of injury.

    Dana Rich is a medical technology professional with extensive experience in customer engagement, business development, and prehospital blood management. Through her work with Delta Development Team, Dana is passionate about helping organizations safely store and transport blood and blood products, ultimately helping get blood where it needs to go, when it is needed most. She works closely with EMS agencies, military medical teams, blood centers, and healthcare professionals to support the implementation and growth of prehospital blood programs. With a relationship-driven approach, Dana focuses on connecting people, sharing best practices, and bringing together the clinical, operational, and technology communities working to improve patient care.
