Members of the blood and biotherapies community can support early-career investigators by participating in the AABB Foundation’s Run for Research or Sleep In for Research, which will take place during the 2023 Annual Meeting. Registration fees from these events support the AABB Foundation’s Early-Career Scientific Research Grants Program, which has funded practice-changing research projects from more than 200 investigators since its founding in 1983.
This year, registrants for the AABB Foundation Run for Research can participate during the AABB Annual Meeting in Nashville or virtually. Registration costs $50, and participants can add a souvenir running shirt for an additional $10.
In-person participants will enjoy a guided running tour through historic Nashville with friends and colleagues on Sunday, Oct. 15. In-person runners will also receive a complimentary breakfast after the event. Those interested in participating may add this event during their Annual Meeting registration.
Virtual participants will complete a 5K run or 1-mile walk any time during the Annual Meeting (Oct. 13-17). Participants may register as individuals or as part of a 5- or 10-member team. Teams receive discounted registration. Registration is available via Run Signup. Virtual participants can download the RaceJoy app for free live tracking.
The AABB Foundation encourages all participants – both in-person and virtual – to document their run by sharing photos and videos using the #AABB23 hashtag on social media.
Sleep In for Research
Those interested in supporting the AABB Foundation without leaving the comfort of their beds can register for the Sleep In for Research. Registration costs $25 and includes a Sleep In for Research t-shirt. Meeting attendees can add this event to their Annual Meeting registration or register via RunSignup.
