The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI) issued a request for information (RFI) seeking input to help refresh the agency’s strategic vision, specifically focusing on the current relevance of strategic objectives and the potential need for additional compelling questions (CQs) and critical challenges (CCs). CQs are unanswered or poorly understood research questions requiring NHLBI facilitation, while CCs represent barriers to scientific progress.
Through the refresh, NHLBI aims to address priorities that have emerged throughout the past five years, inviting input on novel research needs in areas such as data science, health disparities, community engagement, lifestyle behaviors, women's health and the impact of "place" on heart, lung, blood and sleep health. NHLBI encourages respondents to provide perspectives on how to support progress in these areas and evaluate the relevance of the existing eight objectives for the NHLBI strategic vision, highlighting any crucial questions or challenges not already integrated into the current vision.
Interested individuals may submit feedback electronically. The submission deadline is Dec. 15.
