The United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released a National Public Health Strategy to Prevent and Control Vector-Borne Diseases in People (VBD National Strategy) on Feb. 6. The result of a four-year development process, the strategy identifies and describes federal priorities to detect, prevent, respond to and control diseases and conditions caused by vectors like ticks and mosquitoes in the U.S. The strategy also lays out a national public health approach to develop diagnostics, drugs and treatments for coexisting conditions.
