In the latest Transfusion Monthly Podcast, investigators from the Center for Cellular Engineering in the Department of Transfusion Medicine at the NIH Clinical Center joined to discuss their recent paper in Transfusion that explored challenges for cellular therapy labs. In this publication, Anh Dinh, MD; and David F. Stroncek, MD, described the experience of their health care-based cell laboratory that supports off-site-manufactured cell therapies.
In their conversation with host Yara Park, MD, Dinh and Stroncek discussed challenges with managing off-site manufactured cell therapies and shared strategies for maintaining staff competency and process sustainability. The discussion also focused on variability in how cell therapy products are handled and shipped, the challenges of standardization in the field and potential solutions to standardize processes and facilitate communication between cell therapy labs and sponsors.
