AABB Recognizes World Malaria Day

April 22, 2024

AABB joins a global coalition of organizations in marking the 16th annual World Malaria Day on April 25. This year, the World Malaria Day theme is, “Gender, Health Equity and Human Rights” and the slogan is “Accelerating the fight against malaria for a more equitable world.” The initiative is designed to highlight barriers to health equity, gender equality and human rights in malaria responses worldwide – as well as concrete measures to overcome them.

The RBM Partnership to End Malaria estimates that since the turn of the millennium, global partnership and sustained investment have prevented 1.7 billion malaria cases and saved 10.6 million lives; however, however, the organization emphasized that this progress is at risk.

The RBM Partnership’s World Malaria Day website includes a toolkit that organizations can use to promote the day, share advice for malaria prevention, raise awareness of the global challenges in beating malaria and teach the importance of ending malaria for good.
