AABB24: AABB Congratulates the 2024 President’s Award Recipients

October 19, 2024

Fourteen dedicated and influential AABB members were recognized with the 2024 President’s Awards during the General Session of the 2024 AABB Annual Meeting on Saturday.

The AABB President’s Awards are bestowed annually and the recipients are selected each year by the AABB president. The honor recognizes “extraordinary public service and contributions of an individual or an organization in the health care arena” and recipients are honored for work that “furthers AABB’s goals and missions.”

This year’s awardees, selected by AABB President Aaron A. R. Tobian, MD, PhD, represent a group of extraordinary leaders who, throughout their long careers, have helped to shape our association and advance donor and patient care and safety.

The first group of award recipients – Harvey Alter, Michael Busch, Louis Katz, Jeffrey McCullough, Paul Ness and Susan Stramer – were selected for “extraordinary leadership and a transformational impact on the blood community’s efforts to address the risk of transfusion-transmitted infections, as well as for long-term dedication and service to AABB’s mission.”

The second group of award recipients – Quentin Eichbaum, Brian Gannon, David Green, Brenda Grossman, Michael Murphy, Susan Roseff, Steven Spitalnik and Lynne Uhl – were selected for “extraordinary dedication and service, throughout a remarkable career, to advancing AABB’s mission of improving lives by making transfusion medicine and biotherapies safe, available and effective worldwide.”

Congratulations to this year’s awardees!
