AABB joins a coalition of organizations led by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) in recognizing May as the seventh annual National Stop the Bleed Month.
National Stop the Bleed Month is a nationwide campaign to highlight the importance of bleeding control training that allows all people to potentially serve as first responders in an emergency.
As part of these awareness efforts, fire, EMS and health care professionals across the country will provide the public with information and education through
complimentary training courses. These courses teach the public bleeding control techniques and provide participants with the knowledge to assist during bleeding emergencies.
Stop the Bleed was founded shortly after the December 2012 Sandy Hook School shootings, when ACS partnered with law enforcement and other interested national organizations to develop the Hartford Consensus. From this group, an emergency response goal emerged to improve survival following mass shootings and other intentional acts of mass violence. Additional information about Stop the Bleed is available
online.
