Blood Products Availability

August 13, 2025

Blood Products Availability is published biweekly on the AABB Newsfeed and in Weekly Report. This estimate is based on data from AABB's National Blood Exchange.

Platelets
The national availability of platelets is strong. All known needs are met within 24 hours.

Red Blood Cells
There is steady, non-critical demand for O-negative RBCs. However, the surplus of other blood types remains high for the summer season. All known demand is being met within 48 hours.

Frozen Products

Types O and B fresh frozen plasma (FFP) are plentiful – readily addressing all known need. Type AB is the usual exception, with successful searches taking up to 24 hours. Sourcing enough type A FFP may last several days, as mid-summer demand exceeds availability. Usage of cryoprecipitate products is steady, and national inventories are strong.
