Setting goals for the new year always feels like a fresh start. There is something about turning the page on the calendar that makes you want to rethink your habits, upgrade your routines and move a little closer to the life you want. However, although most people make resolutions, very few actually follow through with them. The biggest problem is not motivation. It is clarity.
When a goal is vague, it is easy to ignore, delay or forget. That is why using the SMART framework is one of the most reliable ways to turn New Year’s hopes into real, measurable progress. SMART goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant and time bound, and each part of that formula matters more than people realize.
