
Salwa Hindawi, MD, MSc, FRCPath, CTM, is a professor of hematology and transfusion medicine at King Abdulaziz University, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. She also serves as president of the Saudi Society of Friends of Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Anemia, as well as the chief scientific officer and vice president of the Saudi Society of Transfusion Medicine.
Hindawi is an active member of the AABB Committee for Global Standards, the ISBT Global Safety Working Group, and the ISBT Haemovigilance Working Party. She is a member of the World Health Organization (WHO) Expert Committee on Biological Standardization (ECBS) and the WHO Expert Advisory Panel for Blood Safety. She also serves on the executive committee of the ISBT-ATMF (Arabic-Speaking Transfusion Medicine Forum) in the Eastern Mediterranean Region. In addition, she is an AABB assessor and inspector for the College of American Pathologists (CAP).
