Blood Products Availability

December 16, 2025

Blood Products Availability is published biweekly on the AABB Newsfeed and in Weekly Report. This estimate is based on data from AABB's National Blood Exchange.

Platelets
The national surplus of platelets is abundant. All known needs are met within 24 hours.

Red Blood Cells
Most blood types are readily available, and national demand is low. However, sourcing O-negative and B-negative blood to meet spot usage takes 48 hours or longer. The strong surplus of blood from earlier this fall is ongoing but usually moderates around the winter holidays.

Frozen Products

There is an uptick in the availability of cryoprecipitate products supported by moderate national availability. Types O and B fresh frozen plasma (FFP) are plentiful, readily addressing all known usage. Demand for type A FFP is met by solid national availability. A small surplus of type AB FFP is good news for blood centers building inventory before the next cycle of usage.
