Blood Products Availability

April 22, 2025

Blood Products Availability is published biweekly on the AABB Newsfeed and in Weekly Report. This estimate is based on data from AABB's National Blood Exchange and is intended to complement the weekly Group O blood supply report.

Platelets
The availability of platelets is high. All needs are being met in 24 hours or fewer.

Red Blood Cells
As springtime saturation continues, ongoing usage of O-negative blood is served overnight. Other blood types are readily available for immediate transfusion.

Frozen Products
The demand for most types of fresh frozen plasma is addressed immediately – usually within 24 hours. Type AB is the usual exception, with successful searches taking up to 48 hours. Cryoprecipitate products are flourishing, with availability trending higher.
