The governors of California, Oregon and Washington announced the launch of a new West Coast Health Alliance today. Prompted by recent events at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the three states are forming the West Coast Health Alliance to “provide evidence-based unified recommendations to [California, Oregon and Washington] residents regarding who should receive immunizations and to help ensure the public has access and credible information for confidence in vaccine safety and efficacy.”
The governors said that while each of the three states will continue to “independently pursue strategies shaped by their unique laws, geographies, histories, and peoples,” the Alliance will help to “safeguard scientific expertise by ensuring that public health policies in California, Oregon and Washington are informed by trusted scientists, clinicians and other public health leaders.”
