Blood Products Availability is published biweekly on the AABB Newsfeed and in Weekly Report. This estimate is based on data from AABB's National Blood Exchange.
All known need for platelets is met within 24 hours due to strong national availability.
Springtime abundance across most blood types continues, while the slower replenishment of Rh-negative types may signal the typical seasonal decline heading into summer. Supplies of Rh-positive blood remain strong and are meeting demand in parts of the Northeast and Southwest.
There are localized areas of demand for type B and AB fresh frozen plasma, and a robust national supply continues to meet utilization. Use of single cryoprecipitate remains steady, with both pooled and single products maintaining adequate inventory levels.
AABB's team of industry-trained professionals can help when inventory levels are seasonally low. AABB's National Blood Exchange is a partner benefit for all AABB institutional members.
