Reminder: Transfusion to Transition to Online-Focused Format in 2026

November 12, 2025

AABB reminds members that Transfusion, the Association’s monthly peer-reviewed scientific journal, will transition to an online-focused format beginning with the January 2026 issue.

As always, Transfusion remains dedicated to publishing critical research covering all aspects of transfusion medicine, blood banking and biotherapies. A digital subscription to Transfusion will remain as an important benefit of AABB membership, and AABB members will have the option to continue to receive a monthly printed version of the journal for an additional price.

AABB members are encouraged to access Transfusion online and take advantage of the many benefits offered on the website, including:

  • A digital library with access to most back issues (a few exceptions) from 1961 to the present.
  • Optimized search function, allowing users to easily research topics in depth.
  • Reports of new alleles and antigens published exclusively online.
  • Access point for Transfusion podcasts, which provide further insights into the published research.
  • Sign-up links for e-mail alerts, which allow members to stay current on the latest research published – by single articles or monthly issues.
  • Useful information on CME credit for readers and reviewers.
  • And much more.

In the coming weeks, AABB will provide additional details about the transition to the online-focused format, as well as the procedure for members to opt to receive print copies of the journal.
