AABB joined organizations across the biotherapies community in recognizing World Cord Blood Day on Monday, which highlights the role of cord blood in treating more than 80 conditions. This year, AABB participated as an inspiring partner in the World Cord Blood Day Virtual Conference and formally welcomed members of the Cord Blood Association (CBA) into the AABB community.
On-demand recordings from the ninth annual World Cord Blood Day Virtual Conference, hosted by the Save the Cord Foundation, are available on the event web page. This year’s program took place on Monday and featured presentations on cord blood’s emerging clinical applications, including Krabbe disease, regenerative medicine, cancer and cerebral palsy. The program also included an interview with cord blood transplant recipient Steve Buechler.
AABB also welcomed CBA members to the AABB community following the organization’s dissolution in October. Joining AABB gives CBA members continued access to cord blood resources, educational programs and networking opportunities while ensuring their work in the field remains connected and supported.
To support this transition, AABB formed a new Cord Blood Committee to continue the CBA’s mission and help shape the future of cord blood and birth tissue therapies. The committee will serve as a strategic resource, promoting clinical and translational research, advancing education, informing public policy and strengthening global collaboration.
AABB looks forward to working with these new members to continue strengthening quality and practice across the biotherapies field.
