AABB Releases 2nd Edition of Fundamental Standards

AABB released the second edition of Fundamental Standards for Blood Collection and Transfusion, a complimentary resource that describes requirements for facilities located in resource-challenged areas. 

The Fundamental Standards are based on the quality system essentials that form the framework of all AABB standards and were developed by a committee of volunteer representatives from throughout the world. This resource is available at no cost in the AABB Store.

Organizations interested in adopting the Fundamental Standards should note that there is no associated AABB accreditation program; however, interested facilities can apply for AABB’s Quality Certificate Program, which recognizes facilities outside of the United States for their commitment to a culture of quality and excellence.
