Hemovigilance Organizations Seek Feedback on Artificial Intelligence Use

February 10, 2026

The Hemovigilance Working Party of the International Society of Blood Transfusion, in collaboration with the International Haemovigilance Network and Serious Hazards of Transfusion, recently launched a global survey on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in hemovigilance and is inviting members of the blood community to participate.

The survey aims to assess whether and how AI is being used across hemovigilance systems worldwide and to identify related opportunities, challenges and concerns. Areas of interest include large language models and similar technologies, as well as other systems or algorithms capable of tasks typically requiring human intelligence, including language processing, pattern recognition and adaptive learning.

The voluntary, multiple-choice survey takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and may be completed in more than one sitting. All responses will be anonymized, and only de-identified, aggregated data will be shared at scientific meetings or in peer-reviewed publications.
