Vinayak (Vinay) Kashyap Prasad, MD, MPH, chief medical and scientific officer of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as well as the director of the agency’s Center for Biologics Evaluation and Research (CBER), will be resigning from both positions at the end of April. The resignation was confirmed by Martin Makary, MD, MPH, commissioner of the FDA, on X (formerly Twitter).
During his tenure, Prasad led FDA’s oversight on vaccines, drugs, biotherapies and more. His successor is expected to be named soon.
