Blood Products Availability

October 28, 2026

Blood Products Availability is published biweekly on the AABB Newsfeed and in Weekly Report. This estimate is based on data from AABB's National Blood Exchange.

Platelets

All known demand for platelets is met within 24 hours due to national saturation.

Red Blood Cells

The availability of RBCs often improves with the arrival of Autumn. However, there are pockets of strong demand for type O and B-negative blood in portions of the Mid-Atlantic and areas of the Northeast. Other blood types are plentiful and are available for immediate sharing.

Frozen Products

There are pockets of demand for type A, type B FFP along with an uptick in demand for type O. All known needs for type AB are being met due to moderate surplus. Nationwide, there is a strong surplus of pooled cryoprecipitate that keeps pace with demand. However, single cryoprecipitate is becoming more challenging to source due to declining production.

AABB's team of industry-trained professionals can help when inventory levels are seasonally low. AABB's National Blood Exchange is a partner benefit for all AABB institutional members.
