The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) has named Stella Chou, MD, a physician-scientist and internationally recognized expert in pediatric hematology, transfusion medicine and sickle cell disease, as the institution’s chief of the Division of Hematology. Chou has served as interim chief since August 2025 and will continue to lead CHOP's Division of Transfusion Medicine.
In 2018, Chou was inducted into the AABB Foundation Hall of Fame in recognition of her research contributions, which have advanced the understanding of red blood cell immune responses in sickle cell disease and helped shape new approaches to transfusion support.
